MineralDB provides a software tool for mineral collectors to catalogue personal mineral collections, identify minerals using the mineral identification feature, view a wide range of mineral images, and discover mineral property information using the inbuilt mineral database / encyclopedia. The software:

The Main Properties Database / Encyclopedia
Typical view of the mineral properties database, showing a summary on the most important properties, crystallography, chemistry and classification. For many species example mineral images are displayed. Double-clicking on the crystal graphic opens a moving 3-D crystal model.

Detailed mineral data is given on separate tabbed pages - in this case physical properties.
Optical Properties Page
The optical page provides detailed information regarding the minerals optical properties.

The chemical properties tab has a further link to relevant analytical tests.

Crystallography Page
A snapshot of the crystallography page, illustrating database navigation via the mineral index combo-box. This mineral list can be further filtered by classification combo-box to its left.
Database Navigation
The vast mineral database can be navigated using the previous and next buttons, or using the drop down list. The drop down list can be used by typing the name of the mineral, and the program finds the nearest match.
Classification Page
Classification information for both the Strunz and Dana systems is available.
Variants Page
Variants of mineral species and where they have been found is shown on this page.
